Introduction
Studio Guilherme Torres brings forth the Heritage Apartment, conceived as a haven of comfort for a family of four in Bairro Itaim Bibi, Brazil. With an emphasis on warmth and hospitality, this apartment is designed to welcome both family and friends. Positioned as the sole apartment per floor, it offers a privileged view of São Paulo.
Spatial Organization
Encompassing an area of 570 m², the apartment delineates into two distinct zones: the social and the intimate. The social zone prioritizes integration, with the living room seamlessly extending into the balcony, creating an expansive communal space reminiscent of a home theater. The dining area and gourmet space flow effortlessly within this integrated living space. In contrast, the kitchen stands isolated, boasting an industrial structure tailored for events and gatherings.
Intimate Retreats
The intimate zone comprises five suites catering to each child, the couple, a designated game room, and guest accommodations. The couple’s master suite, the largest among them, features a spacious walk-in closet and individual bathrooms for added comfort and privacy.
Materiality and Design
The project artfully juxtaposes two opposing materials—European oak wood and Basaltina stone—to achieve a subtle yet sophisticated integration. While oak wood dominates the intimate and social zones, infusing warmth and comfort, Basaltina stone offers a counterpoint with its robustness and durability. The apartment boasts a light wood frame with natural oak adorning the floors, ceilings, and walls, complemented by a refined treatment of natural stone conglomerate.
Play of Light and Shadow
The entrance hall sets a poetic tone, employing black wood to create a contrast that guides the observer from darkness toward light, evoking a sense of drama and intrigue. This interplay of light and dark, accentuated by strategic lighting, enhances the apartment’s ambiance.
Mountain Retreat in the City
With its comforting wood elements and the rawness of exposed walls, the Heritage Apartment evokes the sensation of a mountain retreat, offering a respite from urban bustle while providing panoramic views of the cityscape. It blends the familiarity of home with the allure of city living, offering a harmonious duality to its residents and visitors alike.
